Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein, just like his art and comic adaptations, has lived a very colorful life as a family man, an educator, a war soldier and an artist. He has greatly influenced modern art by pioneering the pop art movement, and has gained popularity not just within his country but all over the world. The Lichtenstein Pop Art has been exhibited in prominent places like the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles which took place in 1994, exactly three years before he passed away. New York, where Roy Lichtenstein was born and lived most of his life has boasted of his works by featuring it at several art galleries and has reached far and wide to different states all over the country and has even gone to Brazil, England, Germany, Spain and Austria, among others.
The Roy Lichtenstein art work has had it’s share of criticisms in the years since it’s rise to popularity because many claim they were not original. While he never denied this piece of fact, he was once heard of saying that “the closer my work is to the original, the more threatening and critical the content.” Roy Lichtenstein was a very influential pop art painter in his days, and is considered to be brilliant when it comes to visual representation and intellectual stimulation. Where back in the days where people’s minds were a little bit more conservative, the Lichtenstein pop art broke barriers and challenged people’s minds. His most famous works of art were the large scale comic-type ones complete with the dots similar to the ones in comic books.
The Roy Lichtenstein art work has truly become an inspiration to millions and millions of people across the world. His legacy still lives on, right to this very day. His works of art are still in display in famous museums in the US and in Europe. His dedication not only as an artist but also as an all-around, regular New Yorker, as well as a soldier of the World War II has been exemplary and has won over hearts and minds of people. His willingness to impart knowledge among the young ones has been most selfless and humbling, and we will always remember the man that is Roy Lichtenstein.
